About Dermaplaning Treatments

Dermaplaning is a gentle skin treatment that clears away dead skin cells, impurities and debris. This treatment is performed by a trained esthetician who gently scrapes the outermost layers of the epidermis, thereby exfoliating and regenerating new skin cells to leave the complexion smooth, soft and vibrant.

Also known as epidermal leveling, dermaplaning is a gentle form of manual exfoliation of the skin that resurfaces sun-damaged, dull, dehydrated  skin:

Dermaplaing FAQs

Is Dermaplaning right for me?

Dull, dry, dehydrated and/or congested skin is often caused by a surface barrier of dead cells that are not allowing topical products to penetrate. Impurities are trapped within and the new, underlying cells are unable to surface. Once the dead skin is removed via dermaplaning, the skin is able to expel impurities and easily absorb skin care products. Dermaplaning may also be used to reduce the appearance of acne scars. By sloughing off the surrounding surface skin, the noticeable difference between the area levels is evened out.

How many treatments do I need?

Treatments take about 30 minutes and are scheduled between three and four weeks apart. Each treatment will remove about 2-3 weeks worth of dead skin cells.

Will this cause the soft hairs on my face grow back thicker?

No. The hair on the face is called vellous hairs and it is physiologically impossible to grow back thicker.
There are two types of hair that grow on our bodies.  Vellous (tiny translucent blonde hair) and Terminal (thicker hair that grows under the arms, pubic area, eye brows, mustache and beard for men and legs). Vellous hair when cut or removed will grow back the same.

Will Dermaplaning help acne?

If you suffer from acne, we do not recommend dermaplaning. For acne prone skin, we recommend Microdermabrasion. This treatment is another form of manual exfoliation and will clear the skin and prevent the spreading of acne.

Is dermaplaning safe?

Dermaplaning is a safe treatment when performed by a professional. All skin types and colors can benefit from derma planing or blading. Our esthetician, Jessica, is highly trained and experienced in performing this treatment.

This quick, non-surgical procedure is pain free. There is no swelling or pain associated with the dermaplaning procedure. Most people say it feels good and there is absolutely no down time. No pain occurs with dermaplaning because no chemicals are used and only the dead, surface skin is removed.
