Vi Peel is one of the best treatments for sun damage, melasma, wrinkles, and other skin conditions. At Zap Laser Center, we use products from the Vitality Institute for optimal benefits, and like all other procedures, we follow a very meticulous approach to providing them. In this post, we’ll talk about the Vi Peel peeling process and the steps we take during the procedure. We’ll cover all the bases, from consultation to proper follow-up.

Read ahead to learn more about our Vi Peel procedure, what we do to prevent side effects, and how we perform them in real-time.

Step 1: Consultation

The first step to any Vi Peel application starts with an on-site consultation. Our technicians specialize in Vi Peel treatments and work well on all skin types; however, not everyone is a candidate for Vi Peel. At Zap Laser Center, we must determine if our Vi Peel Precision Plus is right for you.

During our Vi Peel consultation, we will discuss your skincare concerns, medical history, and desired outcomes. By evaluating your skin type, sensitivity, and any contraindications for the peel, we can make an informed decision and give you the peace of mind you want. We’ll tailor your treatment to your needs, expectations, and skin type.

Vi Peel is safe and effective. However, contraindications for this treatment include:

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Active skin infection
  • Open wounds on your skin
  • Recent chemical peel or dermabrasion procedure
  • Use of medications like Accutane and certain topical retinoids
  • History of allergic reaction to chemical peels
  • Eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, or active acne flare-ups
  • Sunburns
  • Highly sensitive skin

Step 2: Prepping Your Skin

Skin preparation is a crucial step of the process. Sensitive areas like the face need to be appropriately readied for any chemical peel, ensuring it’s effective and safe for everyone. After the consultation and the thorough skin evaluation, we’ll prepare your face for the peel. The preparation process involves:

  • Cleansing your skin removes impurities, makeup, dirt, and excess oils from the surface. We use a gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type to cleanse the treatment area thoroughly.
  • Applying skin preparation products to optimize the results of the peel. The prep products might include pre-peel solution wipes or priming agents containing ingredients such as salicylic or glycolic acid.

  • We use protective measures to protect sensitive areas of the skin and prevent the peel solution from coming into contact with more delicate layers of skin. We’ll apply a barrier cream or ointment to the eyes, lips, and nostrils since they are more prone to irritation.
  • Proving a patch test, especially for patients with sensitive skin or first-timers. A small peel solution is applied to a discreet area of your skin, like behind the ear or on the inner arm. We’ll watch for any redness, irritation, or an allergic reaction.

Step 3: Applying The Vi Peel

Once we’ve applied all protective measures on your skin, the application process is the next step. The intensity of the peel is determined by layering and your skin type and condition. Zap Laser Center takes a meticulous approach to applying any chemical peel, including the Vi Peel Precision Plus brand. The process involves the following:

  • A layer of Vi Peel solution is applied to the face using a small brush, applicator, or gauze pad. It has to be distributed evenly on the treatment area and performed in sections (forehead, cheeks, nose, chin) to ensure it’s completely covered.
  • Depending on the level of exfoliation needed, the Vi Peel solution is applied in layers (or a layering technique). Once we applied the first layer of solution, we might apply additional ones with a few minutes of wait time to increase the penetration depth.
  • Applying spot treatment (if necessary) on stubborn areas like acne scars and hyperpigmentation. Concentrated doses of the VI Peel solution can be applied to specific areas of concern to target them directly.

After the VI Peel solution is applied, there is typically a waiting period during which the solution is allowed to penetrate the skin and initiate the exfoliation process. The duration of this waiting period may vary depending on the specific formulation of the peel solution and your client’s skin type and tolerance.

Step 4: Neutralization

When required, neutralization stops the chemical reaction initiated by the peel solution and prevents over-exfoliation or irritation of the skin. Leaving the peel solution on the skin for too long can lead to excessive exfoliation, irritation, and potential complications. This process helps to stop the exfoliation at the desired depth and ensures that the skin is not over-treated.

The neutralizing solution is usually a mild alkaline solution that helps to balance the skin’s pH and neutralize the peel solution’s acidic components. We will monitor the skin closely during the peel application, looking for signs such as erythema (redness), frosting (white discoloration), and client feedback concerning discomfort or burning sensations.

Step 5: Post-Peel Care Instructions

Once the vi peel process is completed, we will provide all the necessary post-peel care instructions. Post-peel care instructions are essential for optimizing the results of a VI Peel peeling process. Some considerations to follow are:

  • Avoiding sun exposure
  • Applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher
  • Use gentle skincare products that won’t irritate or disrupt the healing process
  • Applying a soothing, hydrating moisturizer (containing hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and peptides) to the treated areas regularly
  • Avoid picking or peeling the exfoliated skin
  • Drinking plenty of water

Step 6: Follow Up

We emphasize follow-up care to ensure the Vi Peel treatment is effective. We’ll schedule a post-Vi Peel appointment to assess the results and monitor the skin’s response to the treatment. We’ll evaluate your skin’s texture, tone, and overall appearance. Our clients can provide feedback on their experience with the VI Peel, including any improvements they’ve noticed in their skin and any lingering issues or areas of dissatisfaction.

We may recommend additional sessions or follow-up procedures depending on your skincare goals and the initial treatment results. We’ll also schedule periodic follow-up appointments to monitor progress, assess the skin’s response to the treatment, and make any necessary adjustments to the skincare regimen.
